Red Bean and Rice Soup

1 (8 oz.) pkg. red beans
1 c. rice, uncooked
1 med. onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 c. ham base
1/2 c. Bacon Bits
Dash of Accent or M.S.G.
1 tsp. thyme
Salt & pepper to taste

Put beans in large pan. Cover with water. Bring to boil. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover. Let set for 1 hour. Drain liquid. Add water to cover and again bring to boil. Add remaining ingredients and cook until beans are tender.
