Caribbean Bean Burgers

1 15 oz. can Great northern beans; rinsed & drained
1 c Plain bread crumbs
1/4 c Onion; finely chopped
1 Egg (or substitute); slightly beaten
3 tb Skim milk
1 Clove garlic; minced
1 ts Jamaican jerk seasoning; (dry spice blend)
1/4 ts Salt; (optional)
Nonstick cooking spray
4 Hamburger buns or 8 bread slices
Condiments of choice


In a medium mixing bowl, mash beans with a fork or potato masher until smooth. Stir in remaining ingredients (except cooking spray, bread, and condiments, of course); mix well. Shape mixture into 4 patties about 4" in diameter. Spray a nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium heat. Cook patties in skillet until browned, turning once, about 8 minutes. Serve on buns or bread with favorite condiments.
