Cholent with Barley

1/2 c Dry lima beans
1/2 c Barley
2 T Chicken fat or oil
1 lg Onion; chopped
3 Garlic cloves; minced
2 lb Beef chuck
3 c -or more boiling water

Wash beans and mix wih barley in a crockpot. Heat fat in a skillet, add onion, garlic and beef. Cook until browned. Season with paprika, pepper and salt. Add to crockpot. Place beef cubes on top and pour boiling water to cover bean mixture. Cover and cook on low overnight. May be cooked in the oven on low.
