Shipwreck Casserole

1 lb. browned ground beef
thinly sliced potatoes
thinly sliced onions
thinly sliced carrots
1 small can pork and beans
1/2 can (or a little more) condensed tomato soup
ketchup
1/2 c. grated cheese

Layer beef, potatoes, onions, carrots, beans, soup, ketchup and cheese in a slow cooker; repeat layers at least two times. Top with ketchup. Cover pot with lid and simmer 3-4 hours on low or less time on high. Keep pot covered.

If desired, recipe may also be prepared in a covered casserole dish and baked in 350- to 375-degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until the raw vegetables are done. Salt and pepper layers to taste.
