Make Your Own Taco Salad 1 lb. ground beef, crumbled
1 (1 1/4 oz. ) pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 (16 oz. ) can tomato puree
1 (15 1/2 or 15 oz. ) can pinto beans, drained
1 med. onion, chopped
1/8 tsp. pepper, if desired
Salad
12 oz. (8 cups) corn chips
4 to 6 cups shredded lettuce
1 to 2 tomatoes, chopped
1 avocado, chopped
4 oz. (1 cup) shredded American or cheddar cheese
Purchased Ranch salad dressing or salsa
In a 3 1/2 to 4 quart slow cooker, combine all meat sauce ingredients; mix well. Cover; cook on HIGH for 2 hrs. or on low for 6-8 hrs. or until beef is thoroughly cooked and mixture is thoroughly heated. To serve, place corn chips in individual bowls.
