Beef Chili

1 lb. boneless beef round steak, trimmed of all fat and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
3 garlic cloves, crushed through a press
1 can (7 oz. ) diced green chiles
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (30 oz. ) chili beans, undrained
2 cans (15 oz. each) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (14 1/2 oz. ) diced peeled tomatoes, undrained
1 can (12 oz. ) or 2 cans (6 oz. each) tomato paste

In a 4- or 5-quart electric slow cooker, mix together beef, cumin, chili powder, seasoned salt, garlic, chiles and onion. Add undrained chili beans, drained black beans, undrained tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix gently to avoid mashing beans.

Cover and cook on low-heat setting about 5 hours or until beef is tender.

MAKES 5 to 6 SERVINGS.
